Anthrocon Historical Archive

A collection of 504 files covering the years of 1997 to 2026, plus special collections.

About

Anthrocon began as "Albany Anthrocon" in 1997, and has since grown into one of the largest furry conventions in the world, appearing in the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records. Having outgrown its previous venues in Valley Forge (PA), Albany (NY), and Philadelphia (PA), Anthrocon has made the David L. Lawrence Convention Center its new home, where it has prospered since 2006. In 2024, the convention contributed an estimated $18 million to the local economy.

About this Archive

This digital archive is to provide access to materials and ephemera created for and owned by Anthrocon. Items marked as part of the "Anthrocon Archive" are owned and preseved by Anthrocon as part of its existance.

How are these items being preserved?

The physical items represented in this site are owned and preseved by Anthrocon in a climate controlled facility. As well, care has been taken to store them in archival containers to preserve them in their current condition.

I am writing a book / doing an academic paper / working on a project and would like access to the archive beyond this digital form. How do I get access?

In general, the Anthrocon archives are not publically available. A limited set of items may be displayed at the convention itself. Beyond that, please contact the convention historian via [email protected] (or the Anthrocon PO box) with further details.

Thanks!

Anthrocon would like to thank the following people for helping preserve and construct this archive:

Direct maintenance
  • Dr. Samuel "Uncle Kage" Conway - For preserving a great deal of the physical items in the archive. Often at the expensive of personal living space and at their own cost. This notably includes a complete set of Anthrocon T-shirts.

  • Talyn - For preserving an unbroken line of conbooks on behalf of the convention. And for displaying and sharing them with attendees for many years.
  • Xydexx Squeakypony - Former publications director, who preserved more than a decade of digital source files for print materials including conbooks and other ephemera. Almost exclusively retained at personal expense.
  • Electric Keet - For retaining schedule source data for the years they were on the publications team.
Indirect maintenance
  • Tabitha of Furry Con Archives. - For their focused effort on tracking down electronic ephemera sources, providers, and for regenerating and optimizing digital versions of conbooks from source materials.
  • Bennie, Telbert, Sharky and SusanDeer - For providing photos and scans of personally retained materials to complete the collection.
